Shalom and happy Sabbath!

“There are more than 400.000 species of beetles on earth, but the bombardier beetle stands out with one of the most incredible defense systems in the natural world. Whenever threatened by an enemy—ants, frogs, and spiders—this spirited little bug shoots a het of boiling chemicals and irritating, foul-smelling gases at its attacker. From two large glands that open on the tip of its abdomen, this toxic spray explodes right in the face of the unfortunate aggressor.

With some bombardier beetles, you can hear the explosion as a loud pop, which is a result of rapid firing. This rapid-fire action is called ‘pulse combustion’ and jets the boiling liquid at up to 700 pulses per second at 212 degrees Fahrenheit! In addition, the beetle can rotate the end of its abdomen in any direction, like a tiny cannon, and hit the target with great accuracy.”

Did you know?

Looking at the defense and weapon systems of these bombardier beetles, we also have to know the defense and weapon systems we need to have in order to face our enemies, the devil. That is why the Bible writes, “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil” (Ephesians 6:11).

So the question is, what kind of defense and weapon systems we need to put on that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil?

Paul said, “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints” (Ephesians 6:13-18).

Let us then put on the whole armor of God—the truth, righteousness, preparation of the gospel of peace, faith, word of God, and prayer.

May we continually put on God’s weapon system so that when Satan attacks us, we can stand and overcome the devil.

Happy Sabbath and God bless all of us. Amen.
