Have you ever experienced a tragedy in this life? Have you ever been struck by a disaster and have lost someone that you love the most? Then have you ever asked where the love and justice of God is?
Carolina Sandell Berg, a young woman who truly loved God, had to lose her father, a pastor. At that time she was 26 years old, with her father on a boat crossing a wide lake in Sweden. Because of an accident, Carolina, who was also helpless, had to see her father drowned and died before her own eyes.
However, this tragedy did not make her doubt God’s love and justice in the slightest. Instead of doubting, she recalled Psalm 46:1 which says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” And from this word, Carolina got strength from God and wrote a song lyrics:
“Day by day and with each passing moment,
Strength I find to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment,
I’ve no cause for worry or for fear.”
Everything that God allows to happen in this life is a lesson to strengthen our faith in Him. And may through Carolina’s testimony, we are reminded to always have our hope in God in whatever situasion we are in, because in this uncertain world God is the only place we can put our hope and rely on.
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
Isaiah 41:10
Let us continue to put our hope and rely on God, the only refuge that never disappoints us.
Happy Sabbath and Jesus bless us.
