Shalom and happy Sabbath!

On this 6th series, we will discuss about Tomatoes. Looking at a sliced tomato, we will see the shape of the chambers of the heart.

Does it mean that tomatoes are good for our hearts? Absolutely! Let’s see deeper about it.

In general, tomatoes have red color. It is the lycopene chemical that makes it red.

Lycopene itself is an antioxidant which is very effective in preventing free radicals and also inflammation which increases the health of our hearts.

A study published in Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition journal in 2017, states that lycopene is good for a group of people who has low level of antioxidant in the bloodstream or those who have high pressure of oxidation. This group of people includes the elderly, diabetics, and heart disease sufferers.

Besides, consumption of high concentration of tomatoes is related to lowering the risk of stroke 26 percent, heart diseases 14 percent, and early death 37 percent.

Like the lycopene that is good in preventing free radicals and inflammation, the blood of Christ is also full of love for our salvation.

That is why the Bible says, “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” (1 Peter 1:18-19)

May the devotion we heard today reminds us not to take the redeeming blood of Christ for granted and to live our lives according to His will.

God bless you all. Amen.
