There’s a song entitled “Can the World see Jesus in You?”
And this is how it goes:
Do we live so close to the Lord today,
Passing to and fro on life’s busy way,
That the world in us can a likeness see
To the Man of Calvary?
Can the world see Jesus in me?
Can the world see Jesus in you?
Does your love to Him ring true,
and your life and service, too?
Can the world see Jesus in you?
After we hear that song, what comes to our mind?
Have we ever asked ourselves—has the world seen Jesus in me?
Maybe we would rather sit for hours watching worldly films than sit for an hour listening to a sermon, whereas Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Maybe we would rather sleep in than wake up early to pray as the example Jesus has shown us written in Mark 1:35, which says, “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.”
Maybe we would rather read newspapers, comics, novels, social media status, and other earthly things from our phones than our Bibles, while God wants us to love His words as it is written in Psalms 1:2, “But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.”
Maybe we would rather listen to the gossip that people spread rather than hear the warning given to us, whereas God says, “Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.” (Revelation 1:3)
Maybe we would rather speak politely to someone that we don’t know yet, friends, colleagues, bosses, people who we love, partner, but when we speak to our brother or our parents we would speak harshly, whereas the fifth commandment says “Honour thy father and thy mother….” (Exodus 20:12)
Or maybe we would rather listen to earthly music rather than heavenly music, eat unhealthy food than the healthy one, more interested in going to entertainment places than spiritual gatherings.
Let us contemplate together!
Are we confirming to this world?
Or have our lives shone the light of Christ?
Remember “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Romans 12:2)
Let Christ enable us to be His light in this world.
