Shalom! Happy Sabbath day
When a civil engineer is going to build a building, whether it’s big or small, he will first sketch the concept and plan it in detail on paper.
He will design and integrate various functional and aesthetic aspects. This drawing can take a while, but he can’t skip this process. The picture that is drawn on a paper means a lot to him, because this picture will be the basis for realizing his plans in building the building.
What spiritual lessons can we take from this illustration? When God created man, it is said in Genesis 1:27, “… So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”
This verse reminds us today that God created us all with a very noble purpose. As an engineer builds a house according to the picture he has drawn on the paper, God also wants our lives to resemble His image and likeness in this world, especially in this world that has fallen into sin.
God has written throughout the Bible how we can live in His image and likeness. Our part is to read, ponder, understand, and do with His help. And one of the ways that we can truly live according to His image and likeness is by not living like the world, but starting from the mind we choose to think heavenly things so that our actions and our whole life can reflect His character.
As long as we are still thinking, eating, drinking, dressing, watching, listening and doing other things like the people of the world, we will never be able to know the image, appearance, and character of God as it is written in Romans 12:2, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
God has planned a great purpose in man, that is His own image and likeness.
Let us work together with Him in realizing the great purpose that He has pinned in all of us.
Happy Sabbath and God bless.
