Telecommunication Series Part 1 – Marathon (Don’t Shoot the Message Bearer)

Happy Sabbath!

For the next few Sabbaths, we will discuss about the development of telecommunication. This knowledge is taken from the book “Wow!” by Philip Ardagh, page 7 to 17. Let us start!

For such a long time, people had been thinking about a way on how to communicate to each other who were seperated in a distance which they had to shout to talk to each other.

One of the most obvious solutions was to use a runner who would memorize the important message from one person then run and repeat the message to the other person.

When readings and writings had developed wider, the runner could bring the written message. In the beginning of this, the runner or message bearer would often die. Why? Some of them were exhausted, but some were also murdered.

A tradition in some society would the message bearer if they brought bad news. However, this is not unfair because they were only doing their duties!

This is also what happened in the lives of God’s message bearers in the past. Messages that sounded unpleasing to their ears would be rejected and the message bearers and God’s prophets would even be persecuted and murdered.

As God’s message bearer, let us not fear with whatever commands He has entrusted us to share to others. It is because the Bible has said, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” (2 Timothy 4:3-4)

God has also said, “Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.” (Matthew 5:11-12)

Let us all stay faithful in sharing the Word of truth although we may be rejected, reviled, and persecuted.

Happy Sabbath and God bless. Amen.
