Seeing From Two Angles

The Benefits Of Smoking

Are there really benefits to smoking?

Keep on reading...

Four benefits of smoking:
1. Supports “planned parenthood”

Smoking is harmful to pregnancies, causes impotence, lowering the production and mobility of sperm cells.

2. More people will be going on dates.

Statistics has proven that over smokers have 53% more divorces than non-smokers. The bottom line is that researchers have found that "smoking is strong predictor of divorce."

[Jerald G. Bachman, PhD]

3. Keeps our police force active.

90% of criminals are smokers! Smokers face risks such as:

- 13 times higher risk to alcohol consummation.

- 7 times higher chances to have premarital sex.

- 1.3 times higher risk to drug addiction.

[Rita Damayanti, Health Researcher, University of Indonesia]

4. Population control

Over 6 million deaths are caused by smoking.

- 5 million deaths of active smokers.

- 600 thousand passive smoking deaths.
[World Health Organization (WHO) Fact Sheet - updated May 2014]

There is a saying: "Cleanliness is next to Godliness”

Does smoking promote cleanliness?
Smoke fumes pose a major health hazard by polluting the air with over 4200 chemical substances, 200 toxic substances, among others. This is evident in dirty and blackened lungs of smokers.

We can see that smoking does not promote cleanliness, much less Godliness!

A cigarette’s way of killing:

1. Kills oneself by destroying the lungs and other vital organs.
2. Kills others by second-hand smoke. “One hour of indirect smoking equals to 4 cigarettes.”

[Don Colbert, The Seven Pillars of Health, hlm. 206]

Unsurprisingly, a godly person lives by the law “Thou shalt not kill.”

[Exodus 20:13]

Don’t kill others!
Stop smoking NOW!

How is it possible to earn a fortune just by sleeping?
We will for sure earn a fortune by sleeping as long as we know the rules of the game!

- What can you earn by sleeping?

- What are the rules?

#1 Getting rid of toxins (Detoxification)

Night time is the most optimal time to recharge our bodies by expelling toxins through natural detoxification process.

Rule #1

Recommended times to sleep: go to bed at 9 pm, no later than 10 pm.

Notice the following detoxification schedule:

9 – 11 pm

Detoxificaiton of the lymph glands. State of rest and relaxation.

11 pm – 1 am

Detoxification of the heart. State of deep sleep.

1 – 3 am

Detoxification of the liver.

3 – 5 am

Detoxification of the lungs. For those with coughing problems, severe coughing spells will happen at this time.  Cough medications are not recommended, as they could inhibit the process of cleansing.

5 – 7 am

Detoxification of the colon. This is the time for defecation.

#2 Production of the hormone melatonin

During a night’s sleep, melatonin production increases, reaching its peak between 11 pm and 2 am.  Melatonin’s benefits are as follows:

1. Increasing the body’s immunity.

2. Reduction of cancer risks.

3. Serves as the most prevention of free radicals.

4. Increases the effects of endorphins as a natural tranquilizer.

[Earl Meindell, R.Ph., Ph.D. and Melissa Block]

Rule #2

Melatonin is light-sensitive. Sleep in the darkest condition possible to maximize melatonin production. The presence of light reduces melatonin production.

[National Sleep Foundation]

"Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light

to rule the night. He made the stars also."
[Genesis 1:16]

God made a lesser light to illuminate the evening, and a greater light to rule the day.

Therefore, avoid the artificial lighting that will inhibit melatonin production in the evening.

The famous poem says:
"The Lord is My Shepherd…”
[Psalms 23:1]

Our Divine Shepherd, that is our Lord, has given the best for us.

It is now our up to us to do our part…
Will we follow and obey?

The Unique Mangrove

Amazing Fact!
23% of the world’s mangrove population exists in Indonesia!  This confirms the data stating that Indonesia possesses the largest mangrove population.

[DepHut. 2003 / Indonesian Department of Forestry]

Mangrove is able to live in extreme conditions

1. Muddy Terrain

In general, most plants cannot survive in muddy conditions.  When the ground is saturated in mud, oxygen intake by the plants’ root system is inhibited.  As a result, the plants will:

 - Suffer a lack of oxygen,

 - Experience restricted growth.

2. Seawater/Saltwater

Seawater prevents plant growth due to its high salt content. Plants other than mangroves cannot survive on seawater due to its inability to filter the salt out in order to absorb nutrients.

Just like the mangroves, we live in extreme conditions. We live in the last days that are full of

"adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies."

[Galatians 5:19-20]

The mangrove is able to survive because of its roots’ ability to filter out 90% of the salt.

The rest of it is expelled through its trunk and leaves.

Like the mangrove, we should be able to survive living in these extreme last days,

by filtering and expelling the evil in our thoughts.

"For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries,

fornications, murders."
[Mark 7:21]

How do we safeguard our thoughts?
"Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus."

[Philippians 2:5]

"Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”
[Philippians 4:8]

Despite living in extreme conditions, mangroves still is beneficial towards the people and animals that live around it.  Incredible!

The benefits of mangrove:

- Protects the land from incoming big waves

- Provides shelter for animals.

- Its fruits can be turned into various foods and drinks.

- Its trunk can be turned into high quality charcoal.

Anyone can be beneficial to his or her surroundings,

because everyone is endowed with special talents.
"And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one,

to each according to his own ability..."

[Matthew 25:15]

It is up to us whether to utilize them or not.

Become like the mangrove…

"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."

[Romans 12:2]

"As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another,

as good stewards of the manifold grace of God."

[1 Peter 4:10]

What are Lentils?

Lentils are a form of superfoods, and have a small flat shape, smaller than peanuts.

Despite its tiny size, every grain contains a large amount of nutrition essential to the human body.

Four main nutrition elements:
1. Fiber

Fiber improves intestinal systems and reduces risk of intestinal cancer, breast cancer, throat and esophageal cancer.

It also prevents stroke, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol.

[The Cancer Project]

2. Protein

Lentils provide a far better source of protein compared to animal products, because lentils contain plant-based fats, which is better for health.  Animal-based fats contains saturated fats and bad cholesterol. [Harvard School of Public Health, Archives of Internal Medicine]

3. Foliates / Vitamin B-9

Besides beneficial for pregnancies, foliates or Vitamin B-9 supports the nerve system and supplies the energy needed in red blood cells and DNA regeneration.

4. Iron

Iron is essential for red blood cell production, lowering risks of anemia (red blood cell deficiency), among other benefits.

From a tiny seed, the lentil plant will grow up to 40 cm in height, will blossom and produce many more lentil seeds.  The soil needs to be deep enough in order for its root system to be able to support the plant firmly.

Just like the lentils, we are also seeds that need to achieve a balanced growth

physically, mentally, and spiritually

The Apostle says:
“Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply

the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness."

[2 Corinthians 9:10, NKJV]

How do we make our seeds of truth grow?

"Rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving."

[Colossians 2:7]

Just like a well-cared lentil plant, our Creator will take good care of us.

"Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you."

[1 Peter 5:7]

Did you know?

We think of a computer virus as anything that attacks, disables, and wreaks havoc on our computers.

However, did you know that what we call a "computer virus" is a form of "malware"?

So from now on, instead of referring to virus, let us use the word "MALWARE."

Let us now explore the concept of "Malware" from 2 sides:

Technologically and Theologically.

What is Malware?

Malware is short for "Malicious Software."

Objectives of a Malware:

- To invade or break into a software

- To find a software's weak point

- To alter or corrupt data

- To steal or hide data

The Devil's Objectives:

- To corrupt a good working system (John 8:44)

- To steal (John 10:10)

- To kill and destroy (John 10:10)

- To rob (Matthew 13:19)

"Do not be deceived: Evil company corrupts good habits."
[1 Corinthians 15:33, NKJV]

Let us look closer into 2 kinds of Malware:

A virus does not activate itself automatically.  A virus starts working only when the program or file that it impersonates is activated. Only after the program is opened and run does the virus starts infecting. That is why virus creators often use false icons or pornographic images to attract computer users to select and click these "programs" to activate the virus.

In this way, the virus is similar to sin. Although sin is all around us, sin cannot harm us until we "select" or "click it open".  However, once we "click open" the sin, it will be embedded in our lives.

That is why the apostle James says:
"But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.

Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown,

brings forth death."

[James 1:14-15, NKJV]

True to its name, Spyware is a software that is meant to spy on us.  Its objective is to gather and leak information of a computer's user.

Spyware can be very dangerous when it steals bank account and credit card information, e-banking PIN numbers, or passwords.  Spyware also detects internet browsing behaviors and patterns, as well as topic searches.  Spyware can even spy chat communications! Spyware stealthily watches every move we make on the computer.

Do we realize now how crafty Spyware is?

The Devil is the same way.  He is as crafty and constantly spies on our behavior.  He gathers information by observing what we do, what we say, and the things we like. This makes it easier for him to encroach into our lives. Always watch your thoughts.

"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion,

seeking whom he may devour."
[1 Peter 5:8, NKJV]

That is why God reminds us:
"Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble,

whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely,

whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things."
[Philippians 4:8, NKJV]

Therefore, don't be afraid.  We can strongly face temptations and the bitter realities of this world as long as we have the correct "antivirus", knowing that we can be "reformatted"—only by Jesus.

"... He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit;

for without Me you can do nothing."

[John 15:5, NKJV]
